Built-in to the lens are two precision XA (extreme aspherical) elements, two Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion), and three ED glass elements to minimise chromatic aberration, while the Nano AR Coating II suppresses flare and ghosting.

Built-in are four precision XD (extreme dynamic) linear motor to drive the focus group to achieve fast, accurate, quiet focusing that maximises the AF performance potential of modern camera bodies. The tracking performance easily keeps up with the 120 fps maximum burst speed of the a9 III camera and is consistently reliable even while zooming.

Advanced Expression and Operation for Movies

The focus breathing is effectively reduced for smooth movie imagery, and Linear Response MF allows precise manual focusing to achieve maximum sharpness and resolution. Rack focus and zoom effects can be used with f/2 depth of field to create natural transitions that guide the viewers eye, and the entire system performs with minimal noise and vibration.
